The ACC, much to the dismay of ESPN executives, makes another Thursday Night Football appearance, pinning the #14 Virgina Tech against North Carolina Tarheels. It might not get as ugly as it sounds, but I'll precursor this explanation with a direct point: Take NC and the 16.5 points. Keep in mind, VA Tech's Tyrod Taylor is a head case-- inconsistent at best-- and Taylor facing the 7th ranked Tarheel defense on national television will have him shaken up. I would write about North Carolina's offense, but they don't actually deserve any of my time.
North Carolina needs a win for any kind of respect/chance to see a bowl game, and VT needs the win if they want to compete for a chance at the ACC playoffs. Watch for a low-scoring football game, on the ground, with a lot of big tackles. North Carolina's defense keeps them in the game, and even the VA Tech Cinderella-man Ryan Williams can't rush them to a 17-point victory.
