What a great week to be a sports fan! You your in the middle of the college and pro football seasons, the World Series starts tomorrow night, and the NBA season tips off tonight. With a lot of off seasons acquisitions and trades in the NBA it has created a buzz in the big cities to see if their moves can put them over the top.
In a clash of Eastern Conference titans, the currently healthy Celtics travel into Cleveland to battle Lebron and the Cavs. We are going to get to see how the addition of Rasheed Wallace and Shaq are going to affect their prospective teams and the power of the Eastern Conference. Rasheed is a perfect fit for the Celtics, he replaces the championship peace "James Posey" that they lost last year. Shed can defend the post and perimeter all while scoring from 3 and in the paint. On the other side of the court, it is going to take some time for Shaq and Lebron to get used to playing together. Shaq is going to have to balance being a presence down low and getting out of Lebron's way. Take the Celtics +5 while the big 3 are all still healthy and out of the retirement home.
The Lakers and Clippers match up in the battle of LA. The Lakers have won the last 8 match up between these 2 teams and look to be the clear favorites going into tonight. Blake Griffen is out for sure and Baron Davis is probably not going to play as well. This will leave Clippers over matched even if Gasol is out. Take the Lakers -11
I also like Huston (+9) and Washington (+8) tonight, both are teams that have a lot to prove this season. The Rockets have shown they can win with out Yao and Mcgrady and the Wizards are healthy for now.
