Ohio State (-18) vs Penn State.

The Buckeyes abuse teams at the Shoe and I think a young Penn State team is about to feel the wrath today. This is about the time of year that Ohio State starts to look really good so they will be a national title favorite heading into next year, only to fall short again.

Oregon/Cal over 58

The Ducks are scary good and score scary fast. The least amount of points they have put up all year is 42 and 5 of their 6 games have gone over. Cal has only played two games at home but have put up 85 points in those two games. This one almost looks too good to be true.

Baltimore +1 vs. Atlanta

This trend of Matty Ice being beaten only once at home is due to lose and I think this is the week. Playing an underrated Tampa Bay team last week with a talented young quarterback Atlanta never gave up the lead as a surging Tampa team tried to take the lead while Roddy White was sidelined during the 2nd and 3rd quarter. I look for Rowdy Roddy to be pulling an Andre Johnson this week and only being out there for decoy purposes.

The Ravens with Ed Reed look like a different defense. Ray Rice is really starting to hit stride and Flacco has been throwing screens to him more and more each week. This offense clicks when they get the screen game going. I was impressed the way the Ravens manhandled the dolphins this past week regardless of the spit allegations. Anyone who looks like Channing Crowder deserves to be spit on anyway.

-as much as I love Tony Pike, no one can save this team

Tennessee -1 at Miami
-Maybe Randy Moss wasn't the problem in Minnesota and Brad Childress should look himself in the mirror. I like Moss replacing Kenny Britt as the deep man as Tennessee continues to try to establish themselves atop the AFC south

New York -13.5 vs. Dallas
-Lets be honest, Dallas is a joke... They would be happy holding the Giants to 38 points.

Texas is a young talented team with the best saftey in the country that will keep Martinez in Check. Texas esaly covers and challanges for the win.

Ohio State -4 at Wisconsin
The Buckeys are a only giving up 4 points to are team they are better than in every facet of the game. Not to mention they are great on the road in the big 10. Prior has a big day and the Buckeye win by 2 TDs.

Da Bears.....Suck!

Teams coming off Monday Night Football wins at home and then faced a road opponent went 1-8 last season. This is not good news for an extremely over rated bears team playing a desperate giants team. I fully expect Chicago to come out flat and the Giants to play a desperate team. I will give up the -3.5 points and root for New York

Vegas could not possibly set the line low enough for the Steelers Ravens game. This is be field position battle, because there is no way Charlie Batch and Joe Flacco move the ball on these solid defenses. I will take the UNDER on the 34.5 line and look for a 12 to 9 game.

St. Louis has been a surprise team this season, and with the play of their rookie quarterback they have a belief they can be in any game. Seattle has been extremely lucky to get their 2 wins. The have been dominated in time of possession every game but have played extremely well in special teams. I will take St. Louis +2 at home and hope they can keep the Seahawk special teams in check.

Baby steps back.

After a terrible week last weekend, I will look to try to get back into the winning mode. After looking over the matchups and some line movements, I was excited over 1 game in particular and wanting to share. I really like Clemson this weekend as they host the Hurricanse. This is the 3rd straight road game for Miami and they play host to hated rival, Florida State next weekend. Clemson looked good against Auburn, then last weekend Auburn validated Clemsons performance by beating a talented South Carolina team. Look for Miami to let down a little this weekend as they will be looking ahead to Florida State.

Cal +6.5 Over Arizona
The bears got smacked in the face last week by Nevada, and Arizona won a big night game against a top 10 team last week, so why the Bears? Cal will bounce back and be extremely motivated coming into conference play, while Arizona has been recovering from physical game on Saturday Night and probably thinks they are little better than they really are. In case that is not enough to sway you, the Bears are 18-2 in the last 20 games when they have been unranked.

South Carolina +3 Over Auburn
Spurrier's Team has looked liked the best team in the SEC east BY FAR this season. With Garcia playing well and Lattamore being a beast they have controlled every game they have played in. On the other side of the ball Auburn was extremely lucky to escape with a win over Clemson. It was an extremely physical overtime game with several players leaving on a stretcher. I looked for the Cocks the take advantage of a banged up Tigers team and get the win outright.

Alabama -6.5 Over Arkansas
People are starting to jump on the Hogs ban wagon...Well not this guy! The Tide rolled to a 35-7 win in this game last year and every indication that I have seen is Alabama is even better than they were last year. So I look for a comfortable Tide win and Mallet to fall out of the Heisman race.

September 25th Picks

Having started 6-0-2 on the year, there's a lot of pressure on these picks to keep that record going. This week... we are going with three road teams!!!













Alabama (-7) over ARKANSAS

Alabama is a buzzsaw right now. I really like Ryan Mallett a lot but Nick Saban is one of the best defensive minds of his generation. Throw that in with the best rushing attack in college football, an overlooked receiving core and a QB that doesn't make mistakes... Bama is looking at a double digit victory.

Stanford (-4.5) over NOTRE DAME

I'm sure most of you have heard of Andrew Luck by now, if you haven't, they I doubt you would be reading a sports bookie blog. Well.. believe the hype! Kiper has him rated as the number one NFL prospect in all of college football. Stanford hung up 68 on Wake last week and defense isn't exactly what ND is known for. The Irish will score some points, but the Cardinal get the win and the cover here.

Oregon State (+18) over BOISE ST

Oregon State played very well against TCU and had a great chance to win that game. I attribute the close win over Louisville to them looking ahead to this game. The Rodgers brothers are tough and will do enough to keep the Beavers in the game. Look for a Boise win, but 18 points is way too many.

OOOO we are going to hit people in the mouth today! We are taking physical teams all day and filling our bank accounts with big money.

Look for Nebraska option attack to punch Washington in the mouth and Corn Huskers defense to be too big and physical. Give up the 3 point and take Nebraska on the road.

Iowa is one of the most physical teams in the country. The offensive and defensive lines are going to be to much for for Arizona to compete with. Look for the Wildcats explosive offensie to jump on them early but the Hawkeyes physical to ware them down. Also Iowa is filled with senior experience so take the 2 points on the road.

A much improved Bayor Team with a dynamic Quarterback and big defense is getting 21 points at home to TCU. Thank you Vegas the Bears easily cover +21

Air Force gets the Hungover Oklahoma team after a big win against a suspect FSU team. I think the Sooners struggle stopping the triple option today so I am going to take Air Force the +16.5 points and look for an easy cover.

Thursday Night Preview

ESPN offers up the NC State Wolf pack v.s Cincinnati BearsCats in a battle of exhausted teams tonight. Cincy is playing their 3rd game in 12 days and NC State is coming off 5 days rest after playing in Florida with 93 degree heat. Look for both of these teams to be lack luster offensively tonight and absolutely dead in the 2nd half. In addition, these two team have not been good in the spot light on Thursday Night. Cincinnati has gone 1-8 O/U in their last nine Thursday games, while NC State posts a similar record of 3-13 O/U on Thursday’s. Sometimes schools just don’t have the right preparation methods to get these boys ready for the bright lights, and if it didn’t work well when Brian Kelly was coaching in Cincinnati, I doubt anything will be different this time around. So I am going to take the UNDER at 54.5 tonight and hope someone does keel over.

Monday Night Football x 2!

The first week of the season wraps up tonight with 2 big AFC battles. The Ravens visit the Jets and the Bolts travel to Kansas city to tangle with an upstart Chiefs team.

So far, the NFL has been boring to watch in my opinion. The Sunday Night game last night was terrible, both teams looked awful and there was NO excitement whatsoever. Lets hope tonights games live up to their expectations.

All year we have heard about how the New York Jets are the team to beat in the AFC East. The Jets managed to make the AFC title game last year which in most eyes was considered a fluke. Look for this to be a hard hitting affair, but the Ravens will come out on top. THe line movement is towards Baltimore and I think that is also the smart money. Mark Sanchez won't be able to handiling the blitz and will have a few costly turnovers. Its hard for the Jets to come out tonight and live up to the expectations they have been given.

Here's an absurd stat... Michigan QB Denard "Shoelace" Robinson has more yards himself than 87 of 120 teams so far this season. He has thrown himself into the thick of the Heisman race.

ACC Week 2

Embarrassingly enough, I have to cover this conference.

ACC
V Tech - 33 point home favorite loses straight up to James Madison 21-16.
FSU - 6.5 point underdog CRUSHED by Oklahoma 47-17.
Miami - 8.5 point dog @ Ohio State lost 36-24.
Georgia Tech - 2 TD favorite at Kansas... lost straight up 28-25.
Boston College - -17 vs Kent State... Won but didn't cover
Clemson - 48 point favorite, won by only 37.
Virginia - Hey someone covered! 21 point dog @ USC and lost by 3. Nice.
Maryland - 62-3 winner covering the 36 point spread.
NC State - +3 on the road at UCF (embarrassing in itself).. won straight up 28-21.
Duke vs Wake - 54-48 and it was a PUSH.

The four ranked teams that the conference had (V Tech, FSU, Miami & G Tech) all lost and all failed to cover. V Tech and FSU were absolutely embarrassed and G Tech lost to Kansas who lost to powerhouse North Dakota State in week 1.

Saturday takeaways and some gutsy NFL picks!

Wow, what a great day for college football Saturday was. However, did it live up to the expectations? With plenty of ranked teams facing off, the teams seemed over matched in several of these big games. Lets discuss some important takeaways from Saturday:
1) America is the greatest country ever. On a day like 9/11 we should realize that even more!
2)Ohio State is really good, if they can avoid playing an S.E.C team, they will be your 2010 B.C.S champions.
3) As Primetime pointed out, the Big 10 can not compete with the best teams in the S.E.C. Penn State was much slower and totally outclassed in Tuscalosa last night. What a winner Greg McCelory is, last night took his record to 32-0, dating back to his Freshman year of high school. Will be tough to bet against that guy.
4) What an embarrasing today in the A.C.C. FSU was completely dominated by Oklahoma, Va Tech losing to James Madison, Miami turning the ball over time after time and Georgia Tech losing to Kansas, in football!. Hell, maybe Duke or Wake will be the best team in the A.C.C this year.
4).Dernard Robinson is really, really good in Rich Rod's offense. Think how could he would be if he knew he was suppose to tie his shoe?!?! Robinson is really fun to watch.
5)Florida State is awful on defense. When they play a team that can spread them out and throw the ball, look out for another drumming.
