The Kentucky Derby

Yea Yea I know it been a while, but do you really want to be betting on the NBA and Baseball? Yea that is what I though...Personally I am counting down the days until college football season because I have watched a grand total of 0 playoff games and about 10 total innings of the Reds. However we do get a break from summer lull with the most exciting 2 minutes in sports. The 136 run for the rose is wide open! The only thing constant about the expert and casual fans picks is inconsistency. Do you use the west coast horses that have not had much success in the derby recently, but look to have the most talent? Do you use deep closers because it looks like there is plenty of pace up front? Do you use horses who have run well in the mud because you might need a boat to leave Louisville tomorrow night? Do you pick random numbers/ pick the prittiest colors/ you favorite name? So many questions but not enough answers! Personally I think the last option is your best chance, but I am going to make a case for 1 horse because if it hits I look like a genius! The number 16 horse Awesome act will go off at a pretty good value tomorrow with a tremendous up side. This is a horse that ran what many experts think was the most impressive derby prep in the Grade 2 Gothem, outside of Eskendereya. He followed up that effort in a 3rd place finish in the Grade 1 Wood Memorial, but what a lot of people don't know is he lost a shoe early in the race and jockey Julien Leparoux did everything he could to not injure the shoeless colt. He is also one of the few horses in the field who has run in a race with more than 10 other horses, proving he can deal with traffic. But of all of these the biggest advantage for him is the pace, with so many horses up front that have to be on the lead or really close to it. This is going to create very fast fractions, which is a closers dream! So you take it from here, put him exactas, tris, supers or just bet him across the board your call. But just make sure the 16 is on your ticket somewhere!

Ravens(+6.5) @ Colts

Saturday Night NFL Divisional Round football tonight features the Ray Lewis led Baltimore Ravens against Peyton Manning and the Colts. The Ravens were the most impressive team of the Wild Card Round dominating the shit eating Patriots. The Colts won at Baltimore earlier this season 17-15 and I expect a similar game today. Ray Rice has the potential to give the Colts D all sorts of trouble and Peyton Manning is well... Peyton Manning. 6.5 is too many to lay for the Colts in a game that I think is a toss up. Take the Ravens and the 6.5

Rose Bowl and Sugar Bowl

Rose Bowl: Ohio State (+4) over Oregon
The Buckeyes usually play well in any bowl not against the SEC. I'm not really sure how this game is going to go, but for some reasons (and I hate it) I think the Vest gets it done today. I look for the Buckeyes to win the turnover battle with straight up. Let's take the four points just to be safe.

Sugar Bowl: Florida (-13) over Cincinnati
In what has turned into the Soap Opera Bowl, the Brian Kelly less Bearcats meet the Urban Meyer less.. errr.. I guess he's still there.. Fighting Tim Tebows. I really feel like this is just a bad match up for the Bearcats. Florida was exposed by Alabama, but their defense still has NFL players all over the field. UC relies on the offense to put up 40 a game and I don't think the Saints could score that much against this Gator D. On the other side of the ball, the Cincinnati defense is very suspect and will struggle dealing with the Gator speed. I think UC will play them tough for awhile on pure emotion, but they will be Gator Bait by the end of the night. Florida (-13)

Happy New Years Eve!

This is going to be short, simple and plentiful. I am an S.E.C. homer. I admit it. The S.E.C is the best conference every year. The S.E.C could compete in the N.F.C West. The S.E.C will always be the best conference in football. So, tonight, get your Holiday started off with a peice of the Vol's! Take UT and the 5 points Vegas will allow.

Champs Sports Bowl

You get an interest match up tonight in the Champs Sports Bowl, pinning an athletic Miami team against a physical Wisconsin team. The Badgers were crushed in this bowl last year against Florida State because of a mobile quarterback in Ponder and a speed rush off the edge on defense. This Miami team has a lot of the same elements in Jacory Harris who has played well in big games this year and a Strong Pass rush for the Canes. I look for the speed on offense to give to Badgers problems and the Canes to get an extra bost from a Florida crowd. Take the Canes and give up the 3.5.

Mercury Morris Sucks!

The Colt organization and Jim Caldwell are complete pussies! I am not a fan of the Indianapolis by any measure, but I am a fan of good football. Good football is not putting in your no name back up quarterback half way through the 4th quarter to try to hold on to your undefeated season. If you want to rest your players, you have a bye week with the number one seed to do it. Not 2 weeks before the playoffs, so your players have time to get rusty and pissed off that they can't set an NFL record with a defeated season. O and Caldwell if you did a little research you would see any recent Superbowl winner has been hot heading into the post season, not losing to the pathetic New York Jets. So have fun getting your A$$ kick by the Chargers again and watching the Superbowl from your couch.

But the worst part about this whole fiasco is Mercury Morris gets to pop another bottle of champagne and continue to run his mouth. Every time he says anything about the 72 Dolphins no one under the age of 65 is listening and or cares. The Fins only played 14 regular season games that year and only beat 2 teams with a winning record. Their opponents had a combined record of 70-122-4, a .367 winning percentage. WHAT A JOKE! So sip your champagne a think about being the luckiest team of all time not the best because, there are a lot of teams in history that have went defeated against that schedule.

Independence Bowl

Texas A&M vs Georgia (-6.5)

Kickoff for this game is at 5... a very weird time. I guess they didn't want to compete with Monday Night Football, but that game is awful tonight (Vikings @ Bears)

I have news for everyone, Texas A&M is not as good as they played against Texas. That is the only A&M game that most people have seen all year. Georgia has had a down year but finished strong with a huge win over ACC Champ Georgia Tech. A&M played an SEC team earlier this year on a neutral field... result? 47-19 L against Arkansas.

Take the Bulldogs and lay the points.
