A Legend Steps Down

College Football lost an all-time great today as Bobby Bowden announced his retirement this morning. He will not only be remembered as one of the greatest coaches of all time but also as an even better human being. Unfortunately, to some of the younger generations he may not be remembered this way. If you were born in the 90's or later, you never got to see the legend at work. Just a fun-loving man with a thick southern accent winding down his career. To others he will be remembered a hero, both on and off the field. Bowden is 80 years young and has won 388 games in his career at Samford, West Virginia and Florida State over a span of 34 seasons. Bobby can polish 2 National Titles in 1993 and 1996 and look back on a span of 14 seasons where he went 152-19-1, all ending in 10 win seasons. He can remember finishing ranked in the top 5 of the AP poll in each of thsoe seasons. However, he will be the first person to tell you that the wins are great, but the the communities, friendships, and relationships he has built over the years is what has kept him going. Bowden has gained the respect of every person who has been fortunate enough to come in contact with him. For that reason, his former players, coaches and colleagues are the one who have stood by his side, saying the Old Ball Coach should be able to step down on his own terms. Regardless of whether the timing is right...Bobby you are going to be greatly missed!

It's official... Brees > Brady

It is officially time for Tom Brady to pass the torch to Drew Brees. Brees threw for 367 yards, 5 TD's and finished with a perfect passer rating. Brady, on the other hand, had 0 TD's and 2 INT's. Going into the game I really kind of thought that the Pats would get it done. The Patriots are 7-4 and haven't won a road game this entire season. They are lucky they are in one of the worst divisions in football or they'd be on the outside looking in come playoff time. It's time for you bangwagon Pats fans to face reality, Brady and the Patriots' best days are behind them. Don't get me wrong, Tom is still a Top 5 QB in the league, but he isn't the player he once was.

On another note... Who Dat? Really? You idiot Saints fans!!!

Monday Night Preview

What a game!!!! I have been excited about this one since the end of the Colt & Patriots game 2 weeks ago. You knew then Saints where going to stay undefeated and the Pats where going to be playing with extra motivation heading into Monday Night. So the question is who do you play? To me you can make a STRONG case to bet either team tonight:

Saints
-Undefeated, with the best offense in the League
-New Orleans in 5-0 ATS as single digit favorites this season
-They are averaging 153 yards on the ground to match Brees's huge numbers

Pats
-The intangibles of a Superbowl Coach and Quarterback
-New England has won 17 straight regular season game against the AFC
-The last 5 games (including the Colts) they have out scored their opponents 188 to 73

I can't pick a winner...both of these offenses are to good! To me this game will come down to whoever gets the ball last. For that reason, I am taking the over 57.5 and looking for a high tempo and a lot of points.

What We Learned

Lones Seiber is really good at missing clutch field goals!

The Texas Defense is going to struggle with whoever comes out of the SEC championship game.

The SEC is Freaking Good! (Smacking down the top of the ACC and getting 10 of 12 teams bowl eligible)

The girls on the Hills have more maturity than the coaches in the PAC-10, but it makes late night football really funny!

Vince Young is good, but Chris Johnson is a lot better!

Dennis Dixion is going to play somewhere in the league next year. It may not be Pittsburgh, but he would look good in a Redskin or Panthers uniform.

USC took a knee up 21-7 with under a minute to play against rival UCLA. The brilliant UCLA coach Rick Neuheisal called a timeout and this was next...

Yesterday was tough for the BluegrassBookies, I will try to provide three winners to regain some momentum.

The Cards have been tremendous on the road ATS and SU this year. Warner looks to be healthy again. The Titans have looked good since starting Vince at QB, but still, the Cards are the better team and are getting points.

The Bolts have looked great recently. Looks like Rivers and LT are hitting their stride. The Chiefs are coming off of 2 wins and a big overtime win over Pittsburg. I know this is a division game, but KC could be due for a let down.
